The managing director of Galerie Moenius AG is Dr. Marc-Oliver Loerke, who studied art history and European ethnology at the University of Regensburg. During his studies he worked voluntarily at the Schloss Autenried Icon Museum.
2003 doctorate in art history on the topic: Christ’s descent into hell and Anastasis: A visual motif in the West and the Christian East.
Since 2006 he has been managing director of the Moenius icon gallery in Regensburg and a consultant in building the collection of the Museum of Russian Icons in Clinton / USA.
Manages several large private icon collections, such as the collection of Russian icons from the 17th to 19th centuries donated to the Augsburg Basilica of St. Ulrich and Afra in 2011.
2012 co-curator of the Palech exhibition, 2015 of the Ethiopian exhibition in Clinton.
Several publications on icons, such as 2011: Place of Icons, Russian Fine Painting and Silversmithing, Bartholomew’s Chapel in the Basilica of St. Ulrich and Afra in Augsburg, or in 2016 as co-editor and author for the exhibition in the Icon Museum Kampen: Et Resurrexit, Passie en opstanding op icons.

Christina Buergin-Hengstmann, external art consultant for modern and contemporary art, studied art history, ethnology and Italian at the University of Regensburg and focussed on the modern, contemporary art market after her studies.
She gained professional experience in New York at the New Museum of Contemporary Art and in Munich in various art galleries and in art management for Hubert Burda Media. She also worked in art journalism at ArtInvestor. Ms Buergin has been living in Switzerland since 2003 and is deepening her knowledge of the Swiss art scene. She has made a name for herself as a curator of art-in-architecture projects at Herzog and de Meuron Architects in Basel and at Galerie de Pury and Luxemburg in Zurich. She has written numerous reports on art exhibitions (above all on Credit Suisse’s commitment to art) and various portraits of artists.
As an art buyer for various agencies, she also has extensive knowledge of the international photography scene. Ms Buergin lives in Zurich and works freelance in the creative business as a consultant and mediator of 19th – 21st century art.
Her large network and her focus on contemporary art and photography complete the art mediation consulting services offered by Galerie Moenius AG.
